Empowerment Zone Model
To maximize the benefits of teams, the zone for empowerment needs to be defined. The boundaries include the manufacturing systems, Federal and State laws, shop rules, national and local contracts, and team guidelines. Within the boundaries, teams can self-manage. This minimizes the need for supervision and maximizes organizational resources. The degree of joint management is determined by the boundaries and can be adjusted as teams mature.
